Environmental sanitation to take place in Lagos on Saturday.

There will be environmental sanitation in Lagos on Saturday, July 30 and people across the State have been enjoined to make thorough cleaning of water drains and canals around them.

A statement issued by the State’s Commissioner for the Environment, Babatunde Adejare, notes that this is to ensure a free flow of water as the rainy season nears its peak.

People are advised to obey government’s restriction on movement between seven and ten o’clock in the morning, when the sanitation will take place; warning that whoever disobeys the order may have himself or herself to blame.

While also warning people not resort to social engagements or sporting activities during the sanitation period, the commissioner adds that there will be a severe punishment for whoever dumps waste into drainage channels and canals.
