United States’ Republican Party candidate – Donald Trump has named his Democratic Party opponent, Hillary Clinton, “the devil”, amid continuing fire from within his own party.
Speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump attacked Bernie Sanders for capitulating to Hillary Clinton in the Democratic race; saying he made a deal with the devil and asserting “She’s the devil.”
Trump has been under fire from both Democrats and Republicans as a result of his remarks about a US Muslim soldier’s parents.
Former Republican candidate John McCain became the latest senior Republican to criticise Trump for his attack on the parents of US Army Capt Humayun Khan, who was killed, at the age of 27, by a car bomb in twelve years ago, in Iraq.
Senator McCain, who is a veteran of the Vietnam War, said in a strongly worded statement that Trump did not have unfettered licence to defame the best in his country.
