The Kano State government has dissolved the board of Kano Pillars following their poor performance in the Premier League.
Kabiru Baita who was the chairman of Kano Pillars, led Pillars board had come under fire following the team’s seventh-place finish in the Nigerian topflight, despite the state government’s investment in the team.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje made the announcement while hosting Kano Pillars Basketball Club players and officials in his office.
The governor now advised them on the strategy to adopt to remain on top of the league.
Ganduje, said the state government would soon appoint a new board, a coach and sign new players.
He also promised to support the basketball team as they prepare for the sub-regional basketball championship, and stressing his desired to state sport commission Ibrahim Galadima to restructure the team.
