Nigeria’s sensational female table tennis player, Olufunke Oshonaike, has expressed her displeasure over the failure of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to sponsor the nation’s ping pongers to the ongoing International Table Tennis Federation,ITTF, African Senior Championship holding in Agadir, Morocco.

The Germany-based star, who lamented that the attitude of the Ministry of Youth and sports, towards them was potent enough to demoralise Nigeria’s athletes, said the Ministry always pay adequate attention to the request of Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, at the expense of other sports federations.
Oshonaike, who is not happy that she is only Nigeria’s female ping-ponger to make it to the championship, said the Ministry which failed to make funds available for them, was able to raise funds for Nigeria’s Super Eagles to play The Chipolopolo of Zambia in Ndola, in the Russia twenty- eighteen FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

While lambasting the Ministry for sourcing funds for the Super Eagles to execute the World Cup qualifiers, the female ping-ponger, said it was sad the Ministry could not sponsor Nigeria’s female table tennis team to the tournament.

The tennis player, who noted that the tournament serves as twenty- seventeen and twenty- eighteen World Championship qualifiers, Oshoniake, said the Ministry’s attitude towards the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation,NTTF, was discouraging considering the performance Nigeria’s table tennis team at the last Rio Olympic Games, in Brazil.

She said the gesture could demoralise the President of NTTF, Waheed Enitan Oshodi, who according to her had invested heavily towards the growth of table tennis in Nigeria, stressing that sponsoring herself to the tournament was a bad precedence to the young table tennis players.
