Technical adviser of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, believes Super Falcons can retain the Women Africa Cup of Nations,Awcon, title in Cameroon.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will depart the country to defend the Awcon title which the team won in twenty- fourteen, in Namibia in 2014, after a two- nil defeat of Cameroon’s Lionesses in Windhoek.
Rohr, who had earlier been at the Falcons’ training session some weeks ago, said he saw a lot of improvement in the team, adding that the invited football players had exhibited the spirit of professionalism by playing according to Florence Omagbemi, the team’s head coach.
The Franco-German tactician, who advised the team’s head coach, Florence Omagbemi, to enjoin her players to play simple football, said victory against Mali in the team’s first group match would propel and motivate the squad to win its subsequent group matches against Ghana and Kenya.
The Super Falcons has won the African Women Championship a record seven times since its first win in 1998 when Nigeria hosted the tournament.
