Ahead of today’s semi final clash between Nigeria’s Super Falcons and South Africa at the ongoing Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung has tipped the Super Falcons to make the nation proud and lift the tournament’s trophy.
While addressing journalists in Abuja, the Minister praised the unrelenting effort of the team under Florence Omagbemi after bashing Kenya by four unreplied goals.
The Sports Minister, who commended the team spirit in the face of daunting challenges which is enough to distract the team quest to retain the title won in twenty- fourteen, said the team should be praised praised for sustaining her tempo in the championship.
On why he has not intervened in ensuring payment to the senior women’s national team, Dalung said the current recession in the country had contributed to the team’s situation.
He concluded by promising to ensure that the memo gets presidential intervention as soon as possible and has urged the players not to lose hope as all their entitlements would be given to them as soon as it is available.
