The Department of Petroleum Resources,DPR, has urged retailers of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (cooking gas), to get license before January twenty-seventeen.
Etukudo Etim of the gas department, DPR Lagos zonal office, made the appeal at a safety training workshop, organised by the LPG retailers in Lagos.
According to him, the department would clampdown on unlicensed retailers in Lagos and Ogun States as part of measures to enforce the law regulating LPG’s business.
He noted that countries like Ghana, Togo and Angola, had statistics on the local consumption of LPG, but Nigeria was yet to do it.
Etim said absence of such data made planning by government difficult.
