Nigeria’s Super Falcons yesterday emerge this year African Women’s Cup of Nations title by defeated hosts Cameroon with alone goal in the final played at the Ahmadou Ahidjou Stadium to record eighth time.
Avant Guingamp of France striker, Desire Oparanozie, gave the Super Falcons the victory over the Indomitable Lionesses in a tensed match, which could have gone either way.
Nigeria have now defeated Cameroon in three finals in the history of the competition to Nigeria courtesy of goals from Oparanozie and Arsenal Ladies forward, Asisat Oshoala.
Meanwhile, yesterday’s match at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Omnisports Stadium was a repeat of the twenty-fourteen final between the two countries but the Lionesses were playing in front of their fans, who kept cheering them on.
Head Coach of Super Falcons Florence Omagbemi who retained the team which defeated BanyanaBanyana in the semifinals as Oparanozie was handed her second start of the tournament, now been the only female lady to lifted the trophy as a captain and coach in the history of Super Falcons.
Ghana, whose Black Queens won the bronze after pipping South Africa on Friday, will host the twenty-eighteen Women Africa Cup of Nations finals.
