Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, says the Federal Government will roll out a new policy that will encourage local farmers and manufacturers to protect their products from processing stage to readiness for exportation.
This is all in a bid to generate more foreign exchange for the country.
Osinbajo who spoke during a one-day Grass Root Town Hall meeting in Kano, meant to bring about local manufacturers and captains of industries together to find lasting solution that would encourage large-scale production and exportation of made-in-Nigeria goods, said President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was aware of the current hardship Nigerians were going through.
According to him, President Buhari and his economic team were not resting on their oars at ensuring that local farmers and manufacturers were rescued through interventions in form of loans that would boost their activities and at the same time create jobs.
He lamented that the country currently imported almost everything, saying even if there was enough local raw materials and human resources to process goods up to the finishing point, there had not been any good policy to protect local manufacturers.
