Ronaldo caps dream year with fourth Ballon d’Or win.

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo beat rival Lionel Messi to win the prestigious Ballon d’Or award for a fourth time.

The football player, is now one behind Barcelona’s Messi, who took the honour for a fifth time last year.

Atletico Madrid’s French forward Antoine Griezmann finished third in the vote.

Ronaldo helped Real Madrid win last season’s Champions League and scored three goals as Portugal won Euro twenty-sixteen.

He has now won the Ballon d’Or in twenty-zero-eight, twenty-thirteen and twenty-fourteen and twenty-sixteen, with Messi the only other recipient of the award since winning it for the first time in twenty-zero-nine.

Portugal and Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has attributed his twenty- sixteen Ballon d’Or feat to the success recorded at the Champions League and Euro twenty-sixteen.

Ronaldo, who claimed his fourth Ballon d’Or on Monday, shook off competition from La Liga rivals Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann to win the fourth Ballon d’Or of his career.

The second in its guise as the France Football award, and the attacker made it clear his triumph would not be possible without winning the Champions League and Euro twenty-sixteen.
