Following a eight- three defeat to Switzerland in an international Beach Soccer friendly, Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles started its campaign in the ongoing CAF African Cup of Nations Beach Soccer Championship on a good note at the team beat Egypt, three- two.

The match, which was played yesterday at the EKO Atlantic City, placed Nigeria’s Sand Eagles in second position as Cote D’Ivoire tops Group A having defeated Ghana, five – nil.

After a greater part of the opening period was spent by both sides sizing up each other, Nigeria captain, Isiaka Olawale, a veteran of the beach game brought his experience and leadership quality into play and broke the deadlock on the dot of the first period.

Emeka Ogbonna won the Pepsi MVP award of the cracky clash between Nigeria and Egypt.
