The Chairman, Local Organising Committee for the CAF Beach Soccer Cup of Nations Lagos twenty-sixteen, Seyi Akinwunmi, has tipped the Super Sand Eagles to win the tournament and qualify for next year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in the Bahamas after their four – three goals victory over West African rivals Ghana yesterday.
Hosts Nigeria started the tournament on a winning note in Group A, beating Egypt three goals to two in an explosive tie but the home fans were left devastated on Wednesday after an eight- goal thriller against Ivory Coast had score at four-four during regulation and extra time.
The Ivoirians then triumphed three goals to one on penalties, but the Eagles put a smile on their fans faces as they qualified for the semi-finals with the victory over Ghana.
Akinwunmi said “despite losing to Ivory Coast, the Super Sand Eagles are still favourites to win the title and grab one of the slots to play at the Bahamas twenty-seventeen FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
Meanwhile, the tournament ends on Sunday.
