Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has presented a budget estimate of one hundred and fifty billion Naira for the twenty seventeen fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.
Obaseki said the twenty seventeen budget tagged a “Budget of Consolidation and Prosperity”, was twenty nine percent larger than the twenty sixteen estimate.
The Governor stated that recurrent expenditure was seventy four point nine billion naira, while capital expenditure was seventy five point one billion naira.
Obaseki said the budget had a deficit of twenty five billion naira which would be funded by external borrowing in the first tranche of the World Bank support project.
He said the budget was planned around six key policies including economic revolution, institutional reforms, social welfare enhancement and tourism among others.
