U.S provides additional assistance to reduce poverty in Nigeria.


United States Agency for International Development ,USAID, has announced two hundred and twenty-seven point three million dollars, additional developmental assistance to support five-year, two point three billion dollars agreement signed with the Federal Government in twenty fifteen.

US Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington,who made the announcement in Abuja, said the two hundred and twenty seven point three million dollars had brought the total provision under the agreement to seven hundred and two million dollars.

He said the additional funding was intended to help Nigeria reduce extreme poverty by stimulating inclusive economic growth, promote healthcare, more-educated population, and strengthen good governance.

He said the Agency would collaborate with some federal and state ministries to structure the agreement, which would run through twenty-twenty.
