AFCON 2017: Cameroon players withdraw en-mass

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon is in total disarray ahead of twenty-seventeen GabonAfrican Cup of Nations, Afcons.

This is because about key seven football players on the team’s thirty- five-man provisional squad had opted out.

The affected football players are, Joel Matip, Allan Nyom, Andre Onana, Guy Roland Ndy Assembe, Andre Zambo Anguissa, Maxime Poundje and Ibrahim Amadou have withdrawn from the four-time African champions squad to Gabon twenty- seventeen.

Matip has insisted on continuing his self-imposed exile from international football after his bad experience with the previous Indomitable Lions coaches, while Onana, Assembe, Nyom have put club before country so as to maintain first-team places at their various clubs.

Cameroon is drawn in Group A alongside hosts Gabon, Burkina Faso and debutants Guinea Bissau.
