In Ghana, the office of the country’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo, who was sworn in on Saturday has issued an apology; following allegations of plagiarism of speeches by former United States Presidents, Bill Clinton and George Walker Bush in inaugural address to their people.

Not long after the new Ghanaian leader’s swearing-in in Accra, social media users started pointing out similarities between Akufo-Addo’s speech and those delivered by the two former American presidents.

The Ghanaian presidency’s communication director has consequently acknowledged the plagiarism and offered an apology.

Akufo-Addo, a seventy-two-year-old former human rights lawyer, defeated immediate past President John Dramani Mahama in an election held last month.
