More Nigerians crash out of Governor’s Cup.

More Nigerians have crashed out in the men’s singles event of the ongoing twenty- sixteenth Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship.

Moses Michael, Umaru Balami and Albert Bikom were sent packing on Tuesday, joining their compatriots Christian Paul, Christopher Bulus and Joseph Iyorovbe, who were all stopped in the first round on Monday at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan.

Melissa Ifidzen, Christie Agugbom and Ronke Akingbade also fell out of contention on Monday in the women’s singles event.

Michael failed to live up to expectations losing 6-3, 6-2 to Frenchman Calvin Hemery while Gianni Mina from France beat Umaru Balami 6-0, 6-0.

Nonso Madueke lost 3-6,0-6 to Polish Karol Drzewiecki and Albert Bisong Bikom was no match for Indian Sasi Kumar Mukund, who cruised to a 6-1,6-0 win.

In other second round pairings in the men’s singles, number one seed, Enrique, will play Duncan Mugabe of Uganda, while number five seed Mina Gianni (France) faces Pavel Mirobyan from Russia.
